space rock (Muse)

Indie rock is a sub-genre of alternative rock that  came from the U.K. and the U.S.  in the 1980s. The music is extremely diverse and very free. A space rock band that I actually didn't know was that type is Muse, who has a song that's on Rock Band they are kind of hard rock band but they are very free and concentrated on they're music. They are very based on over driven guitars, electric organs, synthesizers, experimental guitar work and science fiction lyrical themes. Alternative rock bands that drew from earlier influences to create a more ambient but still melodic at the same time. Muse are an English alternative rock band from Teignmouth, Devon, United Kingdom, formed in 1994. The band consists of school friends Matthew Bellamy (lead vocals, guitars, piano, keyboards, keytar), Christopher Wolstenholme (bass, backing vocals, keyboards, guitars, harmonica) and Dominic Howard (drums, percussion, synthesisers, sampling, harmtar). After the release of their 2006 album Black Holes and Revelations, keyboardist and percussionist Morgan Nicholls has performed live with the band. Muse are known for their energetic and extravagant live performances (often being claimed as 'the best live band in the world')and their fusion of many music genres, including space rock, progressive rock, alternative rock, heavy metal, classical, in many Muse songs the bass line is used as the main line, often with the guitar providing an extra layer to the song rather than carrying the melody. The bass usually has distortion and other effects applied to it to achieve a greater weight, allowing the guitar to digress from the main chord progression and play higher notes. As a guitarist, Bellamy often utilises arpeggio and Pitch-shift effects to create a more "electric" sound, citing Jimi Hendrix and Tom Morello as influences for this method music and electronica. However, with the band's progress, their song concepts have become more ambitious, addressing issues such as the fear of the evolution of technology, in their Origin of Symmetry album. They deal with the apocalypse and catastrophic conflicts, in Absolution and Black Holes and Revelations respectively, and with a worldwide revolution in The Resistance album. So, to sum it all up the reason I chose this genre is because I it would be different. Not to mention I've heard about Muse before but i can now relate and listen to more of them.
